History
The Blazing Stump Hotel was founded by a widowed Scottish settler in 1880 - Margaret Armstrong. The hotel was built to service locals, travellers and gold fossickers.
In 1929 local sheep shearer Jack Perry purchased the hotel and started an unprecedented 80 year family run hotel. The hotel has seen many renovations and updates over the years one of which was the building of Comfort Inn & Suites Blazing Stump in 1992. The hotel has seen three generations of the Perry family until it was sold in 2008, Comfort Inn & Suites Blazing Stump remains with it's original owners.
The Blazing Stump complex was given it's name from the historic locility in which it is found. Our property is built on the site of an historical stock drover route, where in one place a fire was lit by passing drovers. As the drovers left camp, they would refuel the fire which kept burning for the next group droving stock to the nearby sale yards. This generous act kept the fire burning for many years.
